How young can you start taking whey protein?Updated 2 months ago
We generally recommend supplementing with whey protein for those who are 18 years old and up! This is mainly to keep things simple, since nutrition needs can look very different while the body is still growing. 🐣
Whey in itself isn't harsh or new — it's a natural milk protein and is even found in infant formula. So it's not an unsafe ingredient by default. 🥽
For anyone under 18 years old, we still encourage getting most (if not all) of their protein from real food like meat, eggs, dairy, fish, and legumes! These offer a wider range of nutrients that growing bodies would benefit from. 🧬
However, whey protein can be an option for for those under 18 years old (especially for active kids and younger athletes) if it's recommended by a family doctor or a sports physician. 🩺 ✅
